Big Tomato Contest |

Since 1993 LaTorre Hardware has sponsored "The Big Tomato Contest" with a 1st prize of $500 dollars, our contest attracts entrants from all over South Jersey. The contest is co-sponsored by the Daily Journal Newspaper and receives plenty of great press coverage. The contest begins in May with participating customers given a free tomato plant and a 5lb bag of Espoma Tomato Tone. The final weigh-in is the third Saturday in August at 3:00 p.m. |

First place in the tomato contest went to Wayne Griner of Bridgeton, NJ.His tomato weighed three pounds, 6 ounces. |

Second place winner was Ralph Fields of Carney's Point.His tomato weighed three pounds, 4 ounces. |

Third place winner was Harry Simonini.His tomato weighed two pounds, 7 ounces. |
