2009 Big Tomato Weigh-In

August 22, 2009 8:00 am- 3:00pm.

1st prize- $300 gift card

2nd prize $100 gift card

3rd prize $50 gift card

 
Since 1993 LaTorre Hardware has sponsored "The Big Tomato Contest" with a 1st prize of $500 dollars, our contest attracts entrants from all over South Jersey. The contest is co-sponsored by the Daily Journal Newspaper and receives plenty of great press coverage. The contest begins in May with participating customers given a free tomato plant and a 5lb bag of Espoma Tomato Tone. The final weigh-in is the third Saturday in August at 3:00 p.m.

2008 Winners
1st Place

First place in the tomato contest went to Ralph Fields of Carney's Point.

His tomato weighed three pounds, 8 ounces.
2nd place

Second place winner was Joanne Crowell.

Her tomato weighed two pounds, 15 ounces.
3rd Place Winner

Third place winner was Ron Nicosia.

His tomato weighed two pounds, 8-1/2 ounces.
